Omaha, Nebraska - Middle school students have a unique opportunity to go behind the scenes in healthcare settings during summer camp at Nebraska Methodist College (NMC).

Students will gain firsthand knowledge about nursing, occupational therapy, surgical technology, phlebotomy, sonography and respiratory therapy.

“This is a great hands-on opportunity for students to build their interest in healthcare,” said Christina Ewing, diversity outreach coordinator at NMC. “When students have this information early, it can help them as they pick classes in high school. The camp helps set them up for success and really gets them thinking about the future.”

Healthcare Career Camp includes hands-on activities, tours and simulations led by NMC’s knowledgeable faculty, staff and students.

The camp is from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. July 16-18.

Students will go behind the scenes with field trips and interactive sessions at Methodist Hospital and Methodist Women’s Hospital.

Hands-on activities will include testing their skills in wound care, basic anatomy, taking vitals, reading X-rays and ultrasound scans, and more.

Students will also experience college courses and talk to instructors about healthcare professions.

Campers should bring their lunch each day. Snacks will be provided in the afternoon.

Drop-off begins at 8:45 am and pick-up ends at 3:45 pm.

Register today at methodistcollege.edu/healthcare-career-camp through June 21.

The cost is $175. A $100 deposit is required at registration. The $75 balance is due by June 28.
