Omaha, Nebraska - Nebraska Methodist College (NMC) Director of Doctoral Studies Dr. Alice Kindschuh was named Outstanding Nurse Educator by the Nebraska Nurses Association.

A nurse educator for over 20 years, Kindschuh currently leads NMC’s doctoral programs, Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) and Doctor of Education (EdD). She continues to practice as a clinical nurse specialist in gerontological nursing.

“Dr. Kindschuh’s dedication to her students and faculty in our DNP and EdD programs is unprecedented and quite frankly unwavering. She is an advocate for the power of higher education and the impact that our students and faculty can positively have on their community and the institutions that they serve in,” said Dr. Amy Clark, vice president of academic affairs.  “There is no one more deserving of this acknowledgement and we are so lucky to have her in our Nebraska Methodist College family.”

The Outstanding Nurse Educator award recognizes innovation and expertise in the nurse educator role.

"I am honored to receive the Nebraska Nurses Association Outstanding Nurse Educator award for 2023,” Kindschuh said. “Education is a team endeavor, and my faculty colleagues are a significant part of my success. I am grateful for this acknowledgement and will continue to strive for excellence in doctoral education at Nebraska Methodist College."

Kindschuh led the development of the DNP and EdD programs at NMC. She successfully guided both doctoral programs through accreditation approvals by the Higher Learning Commission, and the DNP program through Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education accreditation.

Kindschuh is an active member and leader in professional nursing organizations such as the Midwest Nursing Research Society, Sigma Theta Tau, the Gerontological Advanced Practice Nurse Association, the American Nurses Association and the Nebraska Nurses Association.

As part of her Nebraska Nurses Association membership, Kindschuh has served on multiple committees, and planning committees for Nurses Day at the Nebraska State Legislature, annual conferences and policy education offerings.

Kindschuh earned her DNP and Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Nebraska Medical Center, and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Clarkson College.

When receiving the award, the Nebraska Nurses Association said, “Her straightforward, collaborative and transparent leadership style has been an asset to the growth of the doctoral programs at Nebraska Methodist College. She helps to build confidence and passion in the students for the new role they are learning in nursing, education and health care. Dr. Kindschuh is a role model for all nurse educators.”
