Omaha, Nebraska - Nebraska Methodist College (NMC) has been recognized as one of the best colleges in the nation to work for by the Great College to Work For® program.

“This is an important recognition because it is a measure of how our faculty and staff feel about working at NMC,” said NMC President and CEO Deb Carlson. “It gives the college a chance to celebrate what is going right and shines the light on areas we can improve. Having such high marks on this important survey means that we have an obligation to the people who believe in us to make sure that NMC remains a great college to work for.”

Of 212 colleges and universities, 68 were recognized as a “Great College to Work For.” Forty-two institutions, including NMC, were on the honor roll, recognized as stand-outs in their size categories.

NMC is recognized in the following categories: confidence in leadership, faculty and staff well-being, professional development, diversity, inclusion and belonging, job satisfaction and support, shared governance, faculty experience, mission and pride, and supervisor/department chair effectiveness.

“This survey hit all the points that I care about deeply,” Carlson said. “I get emotional when I see high scores on job satisfaction and support, mission and pride and all the other categories. It directly translates to the experiences our students have when we have such engaged faculty and staff.”

The survey results are based on a two-part assessment process: an institution questionnaire that captured employment data and workplace policies from each institution and a survey administered to faculty, administrators and professional support staff. The primary factor in deciding whether an institution received recognition was employee feedback.

NMC received this recognition in 2013, 2019, 2020 and 2021.

The Great Colleges to Work For® program is one of the largest and most respected workplace recognition programs in the country. It recognizes colleges that get top ratings from their employees regarding workplace practices and policies.

The results were released in the Chronicle of Higher Education, a top trade publication for colleges and universities, and by ModernThink LLC, a research and consulting firm.
