Omaha, Nebraska - Nebraska Methodist College (NMC) President and CEO Dr. Deb Carlson received the Inspire award for Excellence in Education.
The Inspire awards celebrate women across different sectors of the community who have excelled in their professional and personal lives, and are leaders and role models.
Carlson was nominated and selected due to her extraordinary career in higher education, beginning with her first teaching role at Wayne State College.
She later taught at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and then served as research professor for the Center for Instructional Innovation.
Carlson joined NMC in 2004. Before her role as president and CEO, Carlson served as executive vice president. She provided direction for the College’s strategic planning, operations, accreditation, effectiveness, leadership development, facility management and more.
As the third president and CEO since the College became a degree-granting institution in 1985, Carlson is the first female to hold this role.
The Inspire award honorees were nominated by community members and selected as finalists by a committee. Finalists were chosen from 10 categories by an advisory board of local business and organization leaders. One person was honored in each category.
Honorees were announced at the Inspire luncheon in Omaha.
