Four Nebraska Methodist College (NMC) faculty earned the NMC Distinguished Educator Award.

The NMC Distinguished Educator Award recognizes faculty members for demonstrating knowledge in the latest pedagogical tools, integrating technology into their curriculum and being well-versed in resources available from the College.

The faculty who received the award are Lane Sidebottom, associate professor and clinical coordinator for physical therapy, Harsha Sharma, NMC professor of arts and sciences, Sophie Feng, NMC professor, and Karin Bellows, clinical coordinator for radiologic technology.

“Our faculty are the heart and soul of NMC,” said Deb Carlson, president and CEO of NMC. “The Distinguished Educator Award recipients have demonstrated the importance of learning to keep growing and improving in their teaching. This makes this special group of educators experts and role models to other faculty. Their dedication to teaching and student success is acknowledged in this award.”

To be nominated for the Distinguished Educator Award, faculty must complete five modules focused on technology integration and active learning. The modules culminate with a peer presentation.

Carlson and Dr. Amy Clark, vice president of academic affairs, present faculty with the NMC Distinguished Educator Award.

The Distinguished Educator title requires renewal every two years.

To renew the NMC Distinguished Educator Award, faculty must design and implement three personal learning objectives within a course they are currently delivering. Upon completion of each learning objective, the faculty member will write a reflection of their experience.
