As healthcare systems nationwide face ongoing workforce challenges, Nebraska Methodist College’s Accelerated BSN program offers individuals who already hold a bachelor’s degree in another field the opportunity to transition into nursing through a streamlined, rigorous program. By pairing high-quality instruction with immersive clinical training and scholarship support, NMC’s accelerated BSN degree is helping expand Nebraska’s nursing workforce pipeline.
In addition to offering the accelerated BSN program, NMC partnered with it's affiliate brand the Methodist Health System to develop a LEARN HERE. WORK HERE. ABSN Sponsorship. A full tuition and fees sponsorship, with a pre-graduation job contract at one of the four health system hospitals. This allows ABSN students to focus on their studies of this rigorous program by stressing less about the finances of school and future employment.
“Our focus is preparing highly skilled, compassionate nurses who are ready to step into today’s complex healthcare environments,” said Dr. Mindy Barna, Dean of Nursing and Vice President of Nursing Operations at Nebraska Methodist College. “Innovative programs like our Accelerated BSN pathway allow us to respond quickly to workforce needs while maintaining the academic excellence and clinical preparation our students deserve.”
Dr. Barna further emphasized the impact of accelerated pathways in addressing long-standing workforce gaps. “It is a newer solution to a longtime problem. So giving students the opportunity to have that second career, get it done quickly and be in the healthcare field. So, this just gives another opportunity for them to complete that degree,” Barna said.
