Today, she is a Clinical Assistant Professor and coordinator of the accelerated BSN program at Baylor University’s Louise Herrington School of Nursing, a satellite campus located in Dallas, Texas.
Beth (pictured at right with one of her Baylor nursing students at graduation) is a huge supporter of the MSN program at Nebraska Methodist College, and we asked her to share why.
Here’s what she had to say about her experience:
Why did you decide to pursue a MSN degree?
I pursued an MSN in Education when I was living out of the country. A university in Mexico was starting a nursing program and I was initially involved. I realized quickly I needed more education to make effective change for the next generation of nurses.
How did you choose between the three MSN degree tracks (executive, educator and informatics) that NMC offers?
I knew I wanted to teach, so it was an easy choice for me.
What was the best part of the MSN program at NMC?
The best part was the faculty and administration. I learned so much and was mentored at every step.
How did your education at NMC prepare you for your current job?
My MSN from NMC led me straight to PhD studies, which allowed me the opportunity to work at Baylor. Nebraska Methodist was a key step in entering teaching at the college level.
How has your MSN impacted your career?
The MSN from NMC was a huge reason I had the confidence to apply for further education. My application for PhD studies was strong because I had been challenged to think critically and write well for NMC.
Why would you recommend the MSN program at NMC to other nurses?
I would recommend it, and I do. The smaller class sizes, flexibility of online classes and a great reputation leads to an outstanding experience!
