NMC Underground Sees Daylight

Posted on Sat, Apr 01, 2017

Gray skies opened up in the Nebraska Methodist College parking lot for the 5-ton Bremen-Schmidt boring machine just after 8am this morning. The 6-meter tunnel excavator completed the first half of a $200,000 underground transit system connecting the Nebraska Methodist College 501 Center to the campus Leinart building and student housing.

Choosing a Dorm: Why It Matters For College Selection

Posted on Tue, Aug 23, 2016

It’s shocking to think that most students approach choosing a dorm as an afterthought. When you add it all up, you’re actually going to spend far more time in your residence hall than you are any other place on campus.

Your living situation can and will have an impact on your capacity to succeed while in college. Persons who are forced to reside in substandard conditions that aren’t conducive to good study habits may find themselves struggling to keep up with assignments and maintain exceptional grades. Or, they simply won’t have as much fun (or they’ll have too much fun).

Why It’s Not Just Healthcare Classes At NMC

Posted on Fri, Jul 29, 2016

Nebraska Methodist College is renowned around the metro area for its nursing and allied health curriculum. For 30 years, we’ve enabled persons in assorted healthcare fields to offer the best care possible, and for 95 years before that, we educated nurses to excel in the very same way.

But we’re not just teaching a trade. This is perhaps the biggest misunderstanding among some students when they visit our school. People believe that we focus only on the technical aspects of their future healthcare role, whether that be nursing, surgical technology, occupational therapy or any number of other disciplines offered at NMC.

What this fails to take into account is all those other things that create a successful healthcare practitioner. The technical portion of the job is only the beginning of a valuable education in the field of healing.

Decision Time Is Here: 6 Steps to Choosing the Right College

Posted on Fri, Mar 11, 2016

If you’re in high school, then you probably don’t realize how much the college application process has changed in recent years. You used to have to fill out, by hand (!), every piece of documentation required by your prospective college, meaning you only really had time to apply for about three or four colleges at max.

In 2016, you can apply for dozens of colleges with a couple clicks and copying and pasting the same information into the same fields on websites around the country. But this creates its own headaches, because now you must choose which of those dozens of colleges you actually want to attend, and that’s not always easy.

Posted on Fri, Feb 12, 2016

Candy-Hearts.jpgCollege is where you come to meet new people and truly become your own person. That often means connecting with someone who makes your heart go aflutter.

With Valentine’s Day almost here, it’s easy to get caught up in the romance. But it’s equally important to be able to evaluate whether or not the relationship you’re in is a healthy one.

Jess Vs. The First Semester at NMC

Posted on Thu, Feb 11, 2016

You could say Jess's passion for nursing began early. After sun-kissed summers at the pool as a certified lifeguard as a teenager, watching her mother care for elderly people at the retirement home and working through her father's death after a terminal illness, Jess knew she wanted to help others, and nursing was where she wanted to be.
